The Days Of Our Lives

Mother, father and daughter picture Courtesy of People Daily Online.

It seems teenage sex is one thing that will never go away no matter how much the world tries. Many countries are grappling with this problem but Britain which has the dubious reputation of being the teenage sex capital of Europe has produced yet another shocker. Schoolboy Alfie Patten is a father at 13. That means he was just 12 when the baby was conceived.

Pictures of the young family are shocking to say the least. But in the spirit of celebrating new life, congratulations to the young couple and may they make good parents. The baby’s mother Chantelle is 15. Asked what he would do to support the child financially, Alfie asks in a small, high-pitched voice, "What's financially?"

Teenage parents aside, it’s sad that there are still so many myths and misconceptions being peddled about sex especially by uninformed kids. Sample this:

  • You can’t get pregnant the first time you have sex.
  • You can’t get pregnant if you’re standing up during sex.
  • If you love someone you must have sex with them otherwise it’s not love.
  • It’s unhealthy for a boy to get an erection and then not have sex.
  • You can get pregnant from oral sex.
  • You can tell if a person has an STI by just looking at them.
  • If a boy pulls out during sex you can’t get pregnant.
  • If you use tampons you’re no longer a virgin.
  • You can reuse a condom if you wash it properly

Last year we debated here about whether or not to accept teenage sex as a modern development or to retain the hard stance society has taken while kids continue to sex away. Something needs to be done. It’s time parents talked some more.

Ciku,
Wonders never cease and in these shores SEX is so casual so much so that you won't be surprised with FY being bandied to mean KWENDA UKO. And there lies the paradox. Our cultures is so sex averse at least in talking but practice is another thing altogether.

Look at the INFANT PARENTS and contrast that with our 80+ grannies defiling toddlers of 6 years ati wife. May they choke in their wrinkles. At least the two babies are in love, and that is not to justify the juvenile orgies. The world is melting albeit slowly.

Ok, let me make a 'real comment' now that am 'over' the shock.

Been in an information age at times its no fun ... things were more real in the industrial era and them guys didn't have as much info as we do. Nowadays you get to know so much but have no idea or clue on how to apply or use the info constructively or at the right time. And other times you go for the wrong info since you want to believe what you think should be.

Waaaa.

I logged on last night and couldnt find anything to say due to the shock.
But now that I am over the shock...procreation will continue to amaze us (as younger and older people break records) due to some premeditated beliefs.
I wish the young couple well, and wish the child well.

Today's word of the day is: Interminable -- seeming to have no end.
It is quite appropriate of the wonders of the this world.

I'm trying to think of the baby making process. this young lad pictured went through it all? he had an erection, had sex and made somene pregnant?

Thirteen is the age at which most people are getting to Form one. I am sure I have heard of kids in primary getting pregnant in Kenya so I'm definately not in shock. What is different here is that the press has put a face to the problem/dilema facing society today.
I won't bury my head in the sand and say pre-teenage sex doesn't exist or didn't exist in my generation it is a sad sign of out times indeed.

Update, the boy may not be the father after all...apparently there is a queue of other teenagers claiming they fathered the baby..so they might need a DNA test..WTF!

Yeah Mama. The boy looks more like 6 or 7 yrs.

Eunuch that’s a strong one! may they choke on their wrinkles gosh.

Ingwe karibu. These are the signs of the end time. And we're still waiting to have numbers stamped on our foreheads.

Sayra Lol. Me too. I cant imagine.

Rafiki the baby daddy is cute too. Not that i would consider lest I encountered Eunuch's harsh words! choke on my wrinkles lol.

BP thats fact. Bado the girl to make up her mind who among the neighborhood teenagers fathered her baby. no wait. there's DNA.

Mama Shujaa welcome sana. Days of our lives indeed. Add octuplets and pregnant men. check out Mama's post. Be warned. the pics can be disturbing hehehehe.

Empower Kenya sorry for the shocker. Hope you didn't choke on your food.

Anon we'd better stick to that natural option. If we start thinking of alternatives we'll get crazier. Artificial Insemination for kids now?

Kirima it's the baby daddy's face that is so disturbingly young. I don't even want to look at him eish.

Val thanks for the links. This girl is in a hurry uuuui. wherever is she running to? Sex will always be around!

Ciku,
We only get scared when names are put to faces but you come to think of it and see primary school teachers impregnating people they should be showing around how to use the toilet and clean themsleves besides wiping their noses.

Coming to think of the baby making process and the infant sweating it out, well, NO COMMENT. And the infant mother peddles her goods so cheaply so much so that her generousity makes the whole neighbourhood claim daddyship. And at 15, OMG?

This story tickled the heck out of me when I first read it! But apparently it has now emerged that the little tot may not be the father of the little tot.. ha ha there is three more candidates! SERIOUSLY? where the heck are the mothers of this teenagers? This issue of teenage pregnancies will never end until parents take responsibility for their daughters sex education and stop burying their head in the sand in the name of religion!

Half n Half (I have since forgotten my PW so I cant sign in as myself)

eeeeer, what? that boy looks like a baby himself.

Half n Half... where the heck are the mothers? What about the fathers? This story is sad for the expose of moral decay. The boy's parents are divorced; his Dad was pictured wearing a devil mask! the other parents for the two teenagers who came up to claim they are the father could be estranged or divorced. So there are six parents in the whole mix.

Oh, my bad... now, with newly born Maldie, there are eight parents...

Eunuch/Nusumbili there is teenage sex and then there is teenage promiscuity. This girl takes the biscuit for the later.

Nusumbili the mothers of these teenagers are probably also out there having casual sex.

Eunuch no comment indeed on the infant sweating it out. The thought!

Neema as said earlier the baby daddy's young looks that are disturbing.

Our Kid the boys father yes. Whatever was that he was wearing? Ati apparently to scare off the press? somethings wrong somewhere.

Its already out there!! TEENAGE SEX that is. Now what we have to do is educate our children about the harms and teach em how to protect themslves. Gone are the days when sex in the dining table was a taboo!
I just came back from Kenya and the things young folks are doing out there are even worse that my American counterparts!!

Media blackout on "boy dad" Alfie Patten

The results of any paternity test for "boy dad" Alfie Patten will remain a closely guarded secret after a ruling by a High Court judge.

A media blackout was imposed on Wednesday to stop newspapers and broadcasters publishing any new details in the case of a 13-year-old boy who reportedly became a father.

.
But under Wednesday's ruling, imposed by High Court Justice Florence Baron, journalists are banned from reporting any new details of the case — including any information that could prove or disprove Alfie's paternity.

Following a court hearing in private, a statement was read to reporters explaining the ive a normal family life."judge's reasons for making the order.

It said that "the private and family life of the mother and her baby has been disrupted to such an extent that the judge was concerned about the mother and baby being unable to l

Alfie's publicist, Max Clifford, said the situation was “strange”.

It's interesting that many of your commenters took the story at face value. The story was disproved almost immediately after it was published.

DNA test proves Alfie, 13, is not a dad

The boy who believed he'd impregnated his girlfriend at the age of 12 has been proven not to be a father by a DNA test.

Alfie Patten, now 13, took the test after six other teenagers came forward to claim they had also slept with Chantelle Steadman, the 15-year-old who gave birth to baby Maisie Roxanne last month.

The Daily Mirror reports the test has proven the infant is not Alfie's — a finding that is likely to leave the boy devastated.
